Gombe gov flags off reconstruction of Kumo township roads

Published by

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has launched the reconstruction of five township roads in Kumo, the headquarters of Akko Local Government Area, as part of his administration’s efforts to enhance access and connectivity within the town.

During the flag-off ceremony on Thursday, Governor Yahaya explained that the project encompasses the reconstruction of four existing roads and the construction of a new one.

The roads involved are Tashan Magarya to Market, Jibilu to Kembu Road, Kambariki to Jaurori, Market Roundabout to Kembu Road, and a newly awarded road from Anguwan Tera to Tembe.

He emphasized that these projects are a crucial part of his administration’s broader strategy to upgrade urban infrastructure across Gombe State, particularly in key towns like Kumo, under the Network 11-100 initiative.

The Governor urged residents to take ownership of the projects, highlighting that the new roads will be complemented by additional infrastructure such as street lighting and water pipelines.

“I am delighted to flag off the reconstruction of four township roads and the construction of a new one to improve connectivity within Kumo. These roads have been neglected for years.

“I believe that with these projects, we are working to transform Kumo. This is not just about paving roads; it’s about paving the way for progress and prosperity for our people”, Yahaya said.

Governor Yahaya also assured the public that significant progress has already been made in the development of Kumo and the broader Akko Local Government Area, and he reiterated his commitment to further advancements in the years ahead.

In a related development, the Governor inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Akko Local Government Secretariat in Kumo. Accompanied by the Director General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Bldr. Mahmood Yusuf, Yahaya expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work.

He noted that the secretariat’s reconstruction is expected to enhance the administrative capacity of the local government.

During his visit to Kumo, the Governor also paid homage to the Emir of Akko, HRH Alhaji Umar Muhammed Atiku, at his palace, where he engaged with community leaders to discuss the needs and aspirations of the people of Akko.

He appealed for their continued support for his administration’s policies and programs aimed at improving the well-being of Gombe State’s residents.
