Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has condoled the Emir of Gona, HRH. Alh. Umar Abdulkadir Abdulsalam II, families, and the entire people of Akko over the death of Dan Malikin Gona, Alhaji Aliyu Jalo Akko.
The late Dan Malikin Gona died on Thursday at the age of 60 in an auto crash, leaving behind 6 children.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the death as painful and devastating, not only to the deceased’s family and the people of Akko but to the entire state. He encouraged those affected by the loss to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a life of service, especially to God and the community.
The Governor noted the late Dan Maliki’s contributions to the development of the state, particularly through his support for the administration as a key stakeholder in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus and give his family the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Also, the Governor expressed sadness over the demise of Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Waziri, a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University (GSU).
Prof. Waziri died on Friday in Gombe at the age of 67 after a protracted illness.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the late Professor Waziri as a distinguished scholar and dedicated public servant whose contributions to the academic and public spheres would be remembered for generations.
“The death of Prof. Ibrahim Waziri is a great loss, not only to his immediate family but also to the academic community of Gombe State University and the state at large. His legacy as a scholar and an administrator will continue to be cherished”, the Governor stated.
“The entire state mourns with the Waziri family and the Gombe State University Community. We have indeed lost a pillar of wisdom, an academic giant, and a man who devoted his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of our society”, the Governor added.
The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus and comfort those he left behind and the entire family, as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe.
