 Gombe gov approves N246m compensation fee for lands acquired by past administration

Worried by the barrage of protest over non-payments of compensation for lands acquired by the government for various purposes, Gombe state Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the release of the sum of N246m for compensation of all lands acquired by the past administration for development purposes.

The Governor also approved the constitution of a Nine member Committee headed by the State Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji to ensure smooth payment exercise.

Members of the Committee include Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Zubair Muhammad Umar, Commissioners of Lands and Survey and Works and Transport, Danladi Adamu and Engineer Abubakar Bappah respectively.

Others are Commissioner of Police, Gombe state command, Director, State Security Service, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Senior District Head of Gombe while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands is to serve as secretary.

The committee is to among other duties verify all cases of compensations in the state with a view to commencing immediate payment.

The Governor has already approved the sum of two hundred and forty-six million naira for the payment of GDP34, a 206-hectare area acquired by the government in 2015 from 192 individuals.

Inuwa Yahaya has also graciously revalidated the approval of the past government and released the money to reduce the suffering of those whose lands were acquired but not compensated by the last administration.

The committee has already held its inaugural meeting at the conference hall of the Ministry of Finance while payment will commence as soon as the 192 individuals have been authenticated aa contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Governor.
