Gombe gets new CP, gives marching orders to DPOs

ALL Divisional Police Officers (DPO’s) in Gombe State have been ordered to furnish the office of Police Commissioner with the list of all black spots in their respective areas of jurisdiction within the next four days.

The order was given by newly posted Commissioner of Police to Gombe State Police Command, Mohammed Garba Mukaddas after formerly taking over from the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Shina Tairu Olukolu, late Monday evening in his office at the State Command headquarters.

According to Garba Mukaddas, the order is coming in order to maintain the existing peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the State as well as for him to be able to personally monitor these spots through constant visits and other operational surveillance.

The new Police boss said that Officers must ensure that they personally supervised men under their commands and also make sure that they give adequate and current reports to his office.

He stressed that “I believe in community and visibility policing. I need to see you performing as I will be visiting areas personally. We all must work together to maintain the level of peace already existing and we must give zero tolerance to corruption”.

The new Police Commissioner then called on the officers and men of the Command to continue to give him the cooperation enjoyed by his predecessor to enable him succeed in the assignment to effectively police the state.

Earlier on, the outgoing Police Commissioner, Shina Tairu Olukolu, commended the officers and men of the Command for the successes achieved collectively during his stay.

He attributed the use of community policing as the source of his success as well as cooperation enjoyed by other security agencies in the State.
