Gombe State House of Assembly has passed into law the State 2020 Appropriation Bill of N130,828,737,593.48 reflecting an increase of the sum of N160,000,000.00 above the sum of N130,668,737,593.48 presented earlier by the State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to the House.
This followed the adoption of recommendations contained in the report of the House Committee on Appropriation presented on the floor of the House.
While Presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee, Aliyu Baba Manu said that the Budget is made up of a Capital Expenditure of N71,046,953, 693.48 and a Recurrent Expenditure of N59,781,783,900.00 adding that the Budget which has an opening balance of N12,000,000,000.00 will be funded with Recurrent and Capital Receipts of N102,065,595,000.00 with a deficit of N16,763,142,593.48 that will be financed with the sum of N22,200,000,000.00 through Internal and External Borrowings.

Giving the sectorial allocations of the Capital Expenditure, Aliyu Baba Manu said that the Economic Sector has the highest allocation of N39,999,795,100.00 followed by Social Sector with N23,875,559,393.48 while Administrative, and Law and Justice Sectors have N5,746,520,000.00 and N1,425,079,200.00) respectively.
After thorough debate, the House approved the Budget size and the sectoral allocation just as it also approved the recommendations of the Committee that the Law establishing Gombe State Transport Service be reviewed to spell out the proper way of their Revenue collection and remittance as well as the need for the State Government to provide Operational Vehicles to Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs especially security and Revenue generating MDAs.
Speaking shortly after the passage of the Budget, the Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim commended the Appropriation Committee for presenting an articulate report that guided the House in taking informed decision calling on the Executive to ensure the effective implementation of the budget as approved by the House.
He also called on standing committees of the House to be diligent in oversight on MDAs under their purview to achieve appreciable performance in the implementation of the 2020 Budget.
The House also passed into Law Bills for the Establishment of Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency and Gombe State Hospital Services Management Board as contained in a statement by ABUBAKAR MOHAMMED UMAR INFORMATION Officer of the Assembly.
