Gombe APC woo defeated aspirants not to leave party

Published by

APCAPCIN order to ensure victory for the party in the 2019 general elections, aspirants of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State who contested but lost various elective positions in the last party primaries have been encouraged not to dump the party but join hands to work for the unity of the party as they approached the 2019 general elections.

The appeal was made by the leader of the party in the state, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje alongside the party’s flag-bearer for the governorship elections, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, as well as Dr. Jamilu Isiaku Gwamna who left the PDP after failing its governorship primaries when they took turns to remind them that victory in elections comes from God.

The defeated aspirants were therefore encouraged to support the party rather than working against it as that would, in turn, create the enabling environment for them to thrive and contest again next time.

Senator Danjuma Goje, a former two terms Governor of the State specifically pacified those who lost out in the primaries and assured them that they would be carried along in the governance of the State when the party succeeds in the election next year.

He commended the courage of the winner of the party’s gubernatorial primaries, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya for forgiving those who wronged him in one way or the other while seeing himself as a very strong commander who needs the support of his soldiers to succeed.

To the party members, Senator Danjuma Goje urged them to work hard towards the victory of the party irrespective of age and position because the party was not deceptive and would deliver its dividends when elected to serve in 2019.

In his remarks, the governorship candidate of the party, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, urged the aspirants who lost in the primaries to be patient and persevere saying, “that is the attitude that will lead to victory next time”.

Inuwa Yahaya who recalled that the party failed to form government in the state during the 2015 general elections as a result of internal wranglings and betrayal of some members, encouraged party members to learn from such lapses and correct them because some of the challenges and issues affecting them could not be tackled unless one was in Government.

He specifically promised those who contested for positions in the primaries but lost that they will be in his priority list of the cabinet if he succeeds in securing victory in the next election.

For those aspirants from Tangale/Waja (Gombe South senatorial zone), they revealed that the PDP had made a very costly mistake in choosing candidates that may not be acceptable to the people of the area, therefore giving the APC an overriding advantage to the party in the general elections next year.
