Gombe State ACReSAL project has established peace-building committees in communities that benefit from its programs to provide early warnings and effective responses to potential threats or risks.
During the formation of the peace-building committee at a plant nursery site in Bambam, Balanga Local Government Area, the ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, encouraged community members to offer their support to the leadership of the newly established committees.
He underscored the committees’ role in addressing any grievances that may arise within the community.
Sani Jauro further cautioned against the practice of bush burning, drawing attention to its detrimental impact on climate change.
In a subsequent visit to Kaltungo, he reiterated the critical importance of fostering peaceful coexistence and ensuring the proper maintenance of ACReSAL investments.
The Chairperson of Kaltungo Local Government Area, Mr. Iliya Suleiman, represented by Deputy Secretary Mrs. Comfort David Ishaku, expressed appreciation for the efforts of ACReSAL and urged committee members to act as exemplary ambassadors for Kaltungo.
The peace-building committees are tasked with identifying potential threats to the successful implementation of the project and proposing solutions to mitigate any issues before they escalate.
Other communities included in the initiative are Lasale in the Billiri Local Government Area and Kembu in the Akko Local Government Area.
