Golfers storm Ibadan for maiden BOVAS invitational tourney

NO fewer than 150 golfers across the country have signified their intention to participate in the  maiden edition of BOVAS invitational golf tournament scheduled to hold between July 22-23, 2016 at the Tiger Golf Club (TGC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan.

According to the Competition Secretary, Gabriel Eneware, the tournament will attract both amateur and professional golfers from different golf clubs accross the country.

He stated that one of completed block of chalets built and furnished by Engineer Frank Nwalaka on the club’s premises will be put into use during the tournament.

Eneware revealed that Ibadan Golf Club, Jaji, Ilorin Golf Club, Ekiti Golf Club, Benin Golf Club,      Ogbomoso Golf Club, Abeokuta Golf Club, Ewekoro Golf Club, Mic-Com Golf Club, Ada, IITA Golf Club, kaduna among others have shown interest in participating.

The club Captain, Dr John Dongo said the club is indeed glad to partner with BOVAS as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

He disclosed that a lot of Nigerians know that the Chairman/CEO of BOVAS, Architech Dele Samson is a man of proven integrity saying its a big boost for TGC  for him to identify with them.

Dignitaries expected to grace the two-day tournament include the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment and who double as the patron of the Club, Major General Kasimu Abdulkarim, immediate past Minister of Police, Alhaji AbdulJelili Adesiyan, Lady Captain of the Club, Mrs       Oyinlola Omajuwa, Captain, Abeokuta Golf Club, Dr Soyinka, General Samuel Adejumo Rtd, Oyo State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Issac Ishola Chief Seye Omisore among others.

The cocktail which proceeds the tournament has been scheduled for Friday while the tournament proper will tee off by 7am on Saturday while the closing ceremony also holds the same day by 6pm.
