God has vindicated me ―Prof Oyewole

Professor Olusola Oyewole

THE Former Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Oyewole, on Sunday, said that he has been vindicated by God of all the allegations levelled against him by his traducers.

He said this in a brief chat with newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, based on a High Court judgement delivered last Thursday, in which he was discharged and acquitted of an 18-count charge bordering on abuse of office, alleged stealing and fraudulent conversion of public property.

Nigerian Tribune recalled that Oyewole alongside the former Pro-Chancellor/Chairman Governing Council of the institution, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe and the immediate Bursar of the school, Moses Ilesanmi were separately arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in November 2016.

He maintained that he came out unblemished through the benevolence of his creator and that he had learnt lessons in the course of the troubled period.

Oyesile who is the General Overseer of Divine Heights Bible Church, Obantoko, Abeokuta, said he has forgiven all those behind the frivolous petition and promised to work with them upon his return to the university next week.

“The good thing is that I’m going back to the university. I have been in FUNAAB for 33 years and out of those years, I’ve spent 17 years as a professor. I’m still going back to the system now. I’m still a staff of FUNAAB.

“I want to say that it is the grace of God that brought me out of this predicament. I have no grudge against those who wrote the frivolous petitions. In fact, I have totally forgiven them. The lesson I learnt is that trials will come, but God will strengthen the righteous. This trial also humbled my heart.

“I was deserted by almost everybody while the case lasted. I was the president of African Universities Vice Chancellors for four years, I managed to travel to Ghana to hand over after the expiration of my tenure. During that period, international invitations for foreign conferences ceased, but immediately I was discharged and acquitted by the court, an international invitation was already waiting for me. You see, that is life,” he added.
