Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu
Troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army battling insurgency in Borno have been charged to increase their fighting tempo against remnants of Boko Haram terrorists utilizing the hit and run strategy.
The Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu gave the charge while addressing them at Sabon Gari in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The General urged them to remain vigilant and alert while conducting their routine patrols and duties within the vicinity of their base to forestall future surprises.
Ezugwu stated that his visit was at the instance of the report of Boko Haram terrorists attack on the troops’ location in Sabon Gari which claimed the lives of some soldiers.
The acting GOC commended the soldiers for their professionalism in the discharge of their duties particularly their gallantry in repelling several Boko Haram attacks in their location.
He empathised with the injured and assured them of adequate medical treatment for them to get better.
General Ezugwu observed that Sabon Gari community was a beehive of activities as a result of the peace that has returned to the area.
He also expressed delight that the populace were going about their lawful businesses without fear of the common enemy.
Similarly, the GOC visited troops at Modupe in Gwoza Local Government to motivate them not to relent in the hunt for remnants of Boko Haram terrorists who were expelled from parts of Sambisa Forest to end the insurgency in the North in order to restore peace to Nigeria.
The morale boasting visit is sequel to attacks in the area by suspected Boko Haram members who stormed a military base in Sabon Gari Damboa, killing three soldiers and thereafter setting the military base on fire.
According to some residents of the community, the terrorists after some hours of gun battle, overpowered the military officers and then set the military base on fire.
