GMA marks anniversary, solicits financial assistance

The Global Maritime Academy (GMA) has celebrated 15 years of its existence and the achievements recorded by the school.

Addressing newsmen at the school campus located at Agbowhiame in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, the chairman of the Governing Council of the Academy, Professor Christopher Orubu, said the vision of the GMA, which is to be one of the leading Maritime Academies in Africa, was gradually manifesting with the achievements recorded so far.

He added that the mission is to develop a world-class human personnel to meet the needs of global challenges through quality training, research and knowledge for the students have been a resounding success.

Professor Orubu disclosed that the courses offered by the school are those approved by the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE), pointing out that these academic programmes handled by GMA provide comprehensive education and training across different disciplines within the maritime industry, ensuring that the students receive a well-rounded and specialised education to excel in their respective fields.

He noted that GMA has been in tandem with the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The Rector of GMA, Dr. Mike Egbago, said the plan and programmes of the GMA had been resounding with result-oriented achievements, adding that the management and staff of the school had been working cordially to achieve the vision of the school.

The proprietor, Mr. Ejiro Onakughotor, said the Academy had been managing the funds it generates to provide infrastructure and training of the students.

The Registrar, Mr. Dafe Ogunje said that GMA has trained students in maritime courses, adding that the school has effective practical training of the students to equip the graduates of the school to meet the needs of the maritime industry with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to be acquisition programme to enable them productive in all sectors.
