Globacom again decided to raise the bar in customer appreciation in the country with introduction of these two major initiatives, even as it says it has recorded wide customer satisfaction throughout the year.
The company tells the public that “with this offer, you will agree that Christmas has come early this year for Glo subscribers.”
In the Everyday Bonanza, thousands of Glo subscribers will win mouth-watering prizes worth hundreds of millions in Naira.
As the name implies, different prizes ranging from Flat Screen LED TV sets, 4G-LTE phones, to generators, refrigerators, microwave ovens and 4G-LTE MiFis will be won every day for the duration of the offer. To cap it all up, one lucky Glo subscriber will win a brand new car every Sunday throughout the promotion.
The second offer, the new Glo Jumbo SIM comes with N200,000 worth of free airtime. This marks the first time any operator will pre-load SIM cards with such a whopping amount of airtime value, which can be used for calls, SMS and data.
The two initiatives were formally introduced at a media launch held at Mike Adenuga Towers (MAT), Victoria Island, Lagos, head office of the company last Monday. The event was attended by Glo brand ambassadors, representatives of the Nigerian Communications Commission and the Nigerian Lottery Regulation Commission (NLRC) and select members of the media.
Explaining the details of the offerings at the ceremony beginning with the Glo Everyday promo, Ashok Israni, Globacom’s Regional Chief Marketing Officer said 50 lucky Glo subscribers will win television sets every Monday (750 TV sets in total), 150 subscribers will win 4G-LTE smartphones every Tuesday (2,250 in total), 100 subscribers will win generating sets every Wednesday (1,400 in total), 100 subscribers will take home refrigerators every Thursday (1,400 total), 200 winners of microwave ovens every Friday (2,800 total), while 650 subscribers will walk home with 4G-LTE MiFis on Saturdays (9,100 total).
To crown the week-long largesse to its subscribers, Globacom will be giving out a brand new Hyundai Accent to a lucky subscriber every Sunday, making a total of 14 car winners.
All a subscriber needs to do to qualify for these prizes is to recharge his or her phone with at least N100 worth of credit. Each N100 credit purchased entitles a subscriber to an entry. In essence, a subscriber who recharges his or her phone with N1000 credit automatically gets 10 entries.
Postpaid customers are not left out. Every N100 usage on their line qualifies as an entry to the daily draw. Furthermore, purchase of E-top up, SIMs and data products from any Gloworld outlet will give the subscriber additional entries into the daily draws.
“So, the more recharge a subscriber makes, the more entries he gets and consequently the greater the chance to win quality gifts everyday!” said Israni.
Speaking on the second offer, Israni said this is a Special Jumbo SIM which gives the Glo subscriber value that is not only unprecedented but also unimaginable in Nigeria’s telecoms industry.
Glo Jumbo SIM is a prepaid plan which welcomes new customers on the Glo network with preloaded N200,000 credit that can be used to browse, SMS and call Glo customers when they recharge.
According to him, anybody who buys the new Jumbo SIM for N100 will automatically have an airtime value of N200,000 preloaded on the SIM. This airtime will however be unlocked as the subscriber recharges his or her phone until it is fully depleted.
Existing customers who want to enjoy this bounty can opt in by dialing *224#.
He said this was the first time telecom subscribers will be enjoying this kind of value from a telecom provider in Nigeria.
“With these two offers, I can proudly say that Nigerians should look no further than Glo as their preferred telecom service provider” said Israni, adding, that “while other operators are squeezing costs, Glo has elected to remain faithful to its esteemed customers and Nigerians as a whole by rewarding and empowering them.”
He called on telecom subscribers to continue to support Globacom as the wholly-owned Nigerian company remains irrevocably committed to meeting and exceeding their expectations.
Interestingly, on social media, reactions have started coming in from Glo subscribers across the country over the introduction of the Glo Jumbo SIM promo.
Fatuntele Tunde L, tweeting with the handle @KobokoGCFR uploaded the screenshot of Globacom message welcoming him to the Glo SIM platform: “Dear customer, a warm welcome of N200200 Free Airtime is yours. Recharge ur Glo line to unlock ur FREE credit. Dial #122*23# to check balance”.
Fatunle posted alongside the Globacom message: “OMG!!!! This is just unbelievable, the #GloJumboSim is real…”
Another subscriber, Seun Abiolu, tweeting under the handle @Shewenzi described the Glo Jumbo SIM as “the first ever big offer in the history of Nigeria!”
In another tweet, he said: “I just told my neighbors here that @Gloworld is giving out 200k airtime to all Glo customers with #GloJumboSIM.”

A subscriber writing on the popular discussion platform, Nairaland, under the handle of Bloggernaij, said: “One of the things I love about Glo is (that) they have lots of free and near-free offers they give to their loyal subscribers.”
Marcel Obiorah commenting on Linda Ikeji’s blog said of the Everyday Bonanza, “That’s really nice from Glo. I can at least win one of the prizes for all my loyalty to the network.”
Michael Smith said, “I am already enjoying Glo Jumbo 200k. Amazing offer. Other networks should roll out things like that.”
It will be recalled that the company on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, came up with the third instalment of its proprietary Glo Free Data Day.
This offer was open to all subscribers who used up to 100MB plus N150 on voice calls or N250 on voice calls in the seven days preceding the Free Data Day.
Israni explained the third Free Data Day followed overwhelming response to the offer in the two past editions.
Concluding he said, “With this offer, you will agree that Christmas has come early this year for Glo subscribers.”
