Glo hails Dream Team over Rio 2016 bronze

National U-23 team ‘Dream Team VI’ has been commended  for placing Nigeria on the medal’s table at the just-concluded 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, the national telecommunication carrier, Globacom commended the team for making Nigeria and Africa proud in Brazil, as it was the only African football team which advanced to the semi-finals of the football event.

“We are delighted that the team recovered rapidly from their loss to Germany in the semi-final and rose to the occasion, winning the third place match, thus placing Nigeria on the medal’s table. We cherish their fighting spirit which made Nigeria to earn the only medal at the tournament,” Glo said.

“We also congratulate the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on the moral support that propelled the team to victory,” Glo added.

The ‘Dream Team’ which  defeated Honduras 3-2 in the third place match emerged as the third best team in the tournament after Germany which picked silver and Brazil which won the gold.
