Ghana’s Ministry of health hails VisionFund/Nexgen partnership to overcome language barriers in Public Health

In a landmark development, the Ministry of Health has lauded the successful collaboration between VisionFund Ghana and Nexgen Global Health Solutions for addressing language barriers in public health education.

The two organizations spearheaded a 3-day training workshop for 170 public health professionals in Northern Ghana, focusing on community education for Hepatitis B in local dialects. This innovative initiative, the first of its kind in the region, was aimed at enhancing health professionals’ ability to effectively communicate critical information about Hepatitis B prevention and vaccination to rural communities.

The Honorable Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, expressed his admiration for the program, describing it as “an unprecedented initiative of this magnitude in our country.”

He highlighted the program’s importance, saying, “This initiative not only strengthens our healthcare workforce but also breaks down the barriers that have long hindered effective health communication in rural Ghana.
By engaging communities in their local languages, we are empowering people to take control of their health and supporting our national vaccination goals.”

This sentiment was echoed by the World Bank Country Director for Ghana, Pierre Francois , who reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting similar projects in the future.

“The World Bank is resolute in its mission to back initiatives that promote equitable access to healthcare. We are proud to be associated with a program that demonstrates how collaboration between local organisation’s can have a significant impact on public health. We look forward to continuing to fund projects that address both health and socio-economic challenges across Ghana.”

The VisionFund-Nexgen partnership has been widely recognized for its innovative approach, combining health education with culturally tailored communication strategies.

This collaboration between VisionFund Ghana and Nexgen Global Health Solutions sets a precedent for future health campaigns in rural communities, ensuring that vital health information reaches all corners of the nation..
