Genuine clerics can’t fall into temptation, immorality —Bebor

What should Christians do to assist in addressing the current insecurity?

The issue of insecurity is serious and it’s only God’s intervention that can end it. That’s why all Christians must join hands  together to pray and fast. Christians don’t carry arms. God did not tell us to carry arms, so the only thing we can do is pray, fast and commit the affairs of the country into God’s hands.

Activities of fake prophets in the country, especially in Delta State, are becoming alarming. What do you think can be done and how can Christians avoid them?

Fake prophets are signs and fulfillment of the scriptures concerning the “end time.” The scriptures told us that they will come and so, they have come. So, it is very wise for Christians to be very watchful. If you are not watchful, you will fall into their hands. Christians should be mindful of their pursuit for prophecy so they don’t become prey to the devil.

Men of God are being accused of one moral infraction or the other, especially sexual immorality. How can genuine men of God avoid getting into sexual immorality?

It is true that nobody is above temptation, but genuine men of God cannot fall into such sin. That’s  why we call them “genuine,” they have become so equipped with the scriptures and with God to the extent that if the devil wants to set such trap, God Himself will take charge of the servant’s life for that period till he overcomes. But if we want to avoid it, it is for us as men of God to avoid getting ourselves involved too much in women affairs. And some of these women are in the church and we have to be careful and spiritually-minded in interacting with them. To avoid them, we have to be spiritually-minded. The carnal mind itself, as Christ told us, is enemy of Christ. It is the carnal mind of some men of God that makes them fall into such temptation.

The youths are described as the future, but today, many engage in ritual killings and cyber crime to make money by all means. How can the church halt this trend?

It is by preaching the gospel of Christ. These vices are the trend of this time. So if we speak out the word of God truthfully, God, in His infinite mercies, will touch their hearts. After all, He owns the hearts of men.  And again, if you know anyone that is doing such things, expose him or her so that the crime in the society will reduce. Don’t hide them; don’t allow their money to entice you so as to shield them, because if you shield them, you are already part of them.

People say many of the those who steal crude oil are members of the church. Do you discourage such economic sabotage among your congregation and how do you prevent proceeds from such illicit trade from entering into church coffers?

It’s very hard for pastors to monitor them. They come to church like every member and none will come out and say this is what I do, this is what I do. But as a leader of a commission, if you know of anyone doing such illegal trade, no matter the amount of money they are giving as tithes and offerings, try to discourage them. Illegal bunkering is actually tantamount to stealing.

What is God telling you about Nigeria?

God has made it clear to me that Nigeria’s future will be very bright. All these kidnappings, killings and criminality we are seeing today will soon pass away.

Some Christians say politics is bloody, therefore they cannot partake in it. What’s your view on this?

The Christians having that thought should have a rethink because even the Bible says: “If the righteous man rules, the people will have peace.” If Christians are not in politics, the evil ones will rule. And if the evil people rule us, that means the nation will be in danger. Even pastors should go into politics and if they go, they should be faithful in carrying out their duties.
