Generation meets millennial as Ruggedman gears up for Foundation Concert

Time has started ticking towards the maiden edition of Nigerian rapper turned human rights activist,  Ruggedman, as industry heavyweights have started expressing their readiness to be part of the event.

With what might seem to be another take-back in terms of concert that would see old generation acts battle on stage with today’s new music acts, Ruggedman has described the concert as unprecedented.

Speaking on the what brought about the idea of a concert of this nature, the rapper said the concert was designed to celebrate the achievements of notable entertainers and media personalities who, through their remarkable works, laid the foundation for Nigerian music as it is today.

According to him, “these are individuals whose music/body of work inspired and continues to inspire a generation of Nigerian creatives who have since gone on to achieve global recognition.”

He disclosed further that the spectacle would assemble some of the finest entertainers Nigeria has produced in an epoch-making event that will stand as a “worthy tribute to our glorious past and a yardstick for future initiatives of the kind.”

Headliners of the concert, according to him, included Tubaba, 9ice, African China,Daddy Showkey, Eldee, MI, Faze, Duncan Mighty, Baba Fryo, Sunny Nneji,  Mr Real, Seyi Shay, Jazzman Olofin, among others.

To this end, three foundation awards with N1 million each will be presented to three outstanding individuals during the event. They include Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, designer of the national flag; late Pa Benedict Odiase, composer of the National Anthem and Professor (Mrs) Felicia Adebola Adedoyin, writer of the National Pledge.
