Gegu appointed Chairman, Kogi MIREMCO

The Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Abubakar Bashiru Mohammed Gegu has been appointed as Chairman of the State National Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO) in Kogi State.

The appointment of Gegu as the Kogi State MIREMCO Chairman is by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake on behalf of the President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

MIREMCO is established in each State of the Federation by the Federal Government by section 19 of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007, with the Minister of Solid Minerals saddled with the overseeing responsibility.

The appointment of Gegu follows his nomination by the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo.

His appointment takes effect from Monday April 8th, 2024, is for a period of three years, is in line with the operational guidelines for the mineral resources and environmental management committee 2017.

With the appointment, Gegu takes over from Hajiya Suleiman.
