THE Presidential candidate of Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria,(GDPN) in the forthcoming general elections, Dr Davidson Akhimien has decried the state of insecurity in the country under the All Progressives Congress, APC administration in Nigeria and promised to tackle menace if elected as the President of the country at the poll.
This was contained a statement made available to news men in Abuja yesterday by his Director of Public Communications and Strategy, Yinka Richards.
According to him: ‘’We are at a crucial stage in our country when we need to take the interest of the people above personal interest. Security is a national issue that has to be dealt with holistically as we approach the general election.
“The same people that are being kidnapped and killed on a daily basis are the people we are taking our campaigns to seek for their votes, this is unfair and we must quickly rise to this challenge.

“I think it is high time we had an enlarged stakeholders meeting with relevant government agencies and proffer lasting and sustainable solutions to these ugly incidents.’’
He also lamented the spate of killings and kidnappings in some parts of Nigeria especially Ondo state where innocent citizens were been kidnapped on daily basis without the perpetrators being brought to book.
The GDPN candidate described the recent outrage in APC rally in Lagos state where hoodlums attacked themselves as laxity on the part of the ruling APC government in the country, saying, “if nothing serious is done before the general election, posterity will judge them.”
Akhimien also urged security agencies to wake up to their responsibilities of protecting lives and properties instead of playing politics with it and that it should be at the back of their minds that they would one day give their account of stewardship before their creator.
