GBV: CSOs network reiterates commitment to promoting justice in Zamfara

The Network of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and marginalized groups in Zamfara has reiterated its commitment to promote stability, access to justice and accountability in the state.

The Chairperson of the network, Dr Ahmad Hashim stated this in Gusau while briefing newsmen after the quarterly review meeting of the network organised by Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) a CSO with support from International Alert.

Hashim thanks International Alert and VAI-Zamfara for their support and commitment which led to the success of the project in the state.

He commended the network members for their active participation in various activities towards achieving the projects goals.

“The aim of the meeting to enhance cordial working relationship between network members comprising marginalized group, community women representatives, as well as civil society organization, media and both formal and informal security actors in the fight against SGBV”, he said.

He said the meeting also aimed to support and empower the marginalized groups to have access to opportunities in order to participate actively in security, justice, conflict resolution and decision-making processes in the communities and state at large.

“The meeting promotes participation of community representative such as marginalized groups, including women, their leaders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with opportunities and platforms to make their voices heard and advocate for their concerns to be addressed.

Hashim urged members of the network to work together in order to eliminate SGBV in the society.

Also speaking, the Executive Director VAI, Musa Umar appreciated network members and other stakeholders from the communities for their active role in achieving the project desire goals.

Umar called on the community stakeholders to ensure the maintenance and safety of the safe space centres that was renovated and equipment in the project communities through the project as well as sustained all the project deliverables.

He further commended the efforts of Zamfara state Government for the partnership and collaboration throughout the project implementation.
