Gbajabiamila finally accepts Tivs petition from Benue Rep Gbillah

Published by

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, on Tuesday at the resumption of plenary accepted the petition of the Tiv people from Benue State resident in the United States of America presented by Honourable Mark Gbillah, representing Gwer East West Federal Constituency of Benue State

Gbajabiamila, while agreeing that the lawmaker should re-present the petition, declared that the House of Representatives would not discriminate against any Nigerian wherever they may be in any part of the world.

According to him: “I believe this is the same petition that has been causing a lot of misunderstanding, the misunderstanding, to me, came from the issue of signature.

“Having cleared that misunderstanding, please, go ahead and lay your petition to be given proper attention.”

It will be recalled that the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Idris Ahmed Wase, had earlier rejected the petition, saying that Nigerians in diaspora were not in the right standing to make a petition to the House.

The rejection had however attracted widespread condemnations from Nigerians all over the world
