Ganduje heads APC NEC’s fact-finding committee on Edo crisis

THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday night announced a five-man fact-finding committee on the crisis in its Edo State chapter.

A statement signed by its spokesman, Lanre Isa-Onilu, disclosed that Kano State governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, would lead the team.

The announcement is coming on the heels of a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting expected to hold tomorrow.

The statement named Honourable Ahmed Wadada as a secretary while Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari; former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi; former governor of Borno State and serving senator, Kashim Shettima, would serve as members.

The statement further revealed that the team “is expected to meet with all disputing interests and present its findings to the party.”

Isa-Onilu in the statement further noted that the committee was part of its “effort to find a lasting solution to the crisis and ensure the party comes out of it even stronger.”

The Edo State chapter of the party has since been polarised into factions, with a faction loyal to the governor, Godwin Obaseki and led by Anselm Ojezua, the state chairman, last week suspended the state secretary, Mr Lawrence Okah.

The faction also axed the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

Another faction led by Colonel David Imuse and Lawrence Okah, chairman and secretary respectively, claimed it was the authentic leadership of the party in the state and announced the removal of Ojezua as chairman.
