Ganduje declares Monday work-free day to mark Islamic New Year

Kano State governor,  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared Monday, Muharram 1, 1443 AH (September 9, 2021) as a work-free day in the state.

The governor urged workers to use the work-free day to pray for the country to deliver it from the prevailing security challenges.

According to a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, a copy made available to pressmen, said the holiday was in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar 1443 AH.

Ganduje also congratulated the Muslims on the dawn of the new Islamic year, which calls for thanksgiving and sober reflection.

The statement further enlisted the support and cooperation of the people for the government as it strives hard to better their lots in the face of daunting challenges facing the nation.
