Gamawa, Muazu’s defection to APC is good radiance to bad rubbish ― Bauchi PDP Chairman

RECENT suspension of the former Deputy National Chairman of the main opposition party in the country, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Babayo Garba Gamawa (BBG) and his subsequent defection alongside the former National Chairman of the party, Ahmed Adamu Muazu to the ruling APC has been described as, “good radiance to bad rubbish” just as the onetime Governor and Deputy Governor to the immediate past Governor of Bauchi state, Isa Yuguda were described as, “betrayers and serial losers.”

While reacting to the defections of the former National Chairman and Deputy National Chairman (North) of the PDP, Bauchi State Chairman of the party, Hamza Koshe Akuyam, said that the party was happy that a bunch of “betrayers” have left its fold.

The party’s Chairman added that though the exit of one person from a political party is painful “but if they said that we will regret it, we will wait and see. Their actions have portrayed them to be betrayers, that is all. The Bauchi State chapter of the PDP will not say it has lost great men, but we have lost betrayers.”

He further said that defection from one political party to the other was a normal thing in politics, pointing out that there are people who could not stay outside of government.

According to Hamza Akuyam, with the calibre of the former National and Deputy National Chairman of the main opposition PDP defecting to the ruling APC, it showed that they were either ungrateful or uncomfortable being in the party or “it was inferiority complex that they couldn’t hold that office.”

He further said that Ahmed Muazu and Babayo Gamawa’s actions confirmed the allegation of their engagement in anti-party activities declaring that, “They have now proven the rumours of their anti-party activities to be true. Seeing him (Gamawa) with the President has confirmed whatever suspicion the PDP had against him to be true.”

He added that “You cannot suspend somebody today and the following day you see him with the President, is it possible? He was suspended around 11 pm and the next morning, he was already at the Villa. Is it possible for such to happen if he had not had an issue of anti-party activities before?”

Hamza Akuyam who described Bavayo Gamawa as a “serial loser,” said that after losing elections many times in the state, the then Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, brought him in in 2007 and he won the State House of Assembly election on the platform of the then All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) and became the Speaker of the House.

Babayo Gamawa, who was a one-time Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly and later Deputy Governor after he presided over the impeachment of late Garba Gadi as Deputy Governor in controversial circumstances was suspended by the PDP for alleged anti-party activities late Monday night and he immediately defected to the ruling APC the following morning, Tuesday.

On the defection of the former National Chairman of the PDP, Ahmed Adamu Muazu to the APC, Hamza Koshe Akuyam said that “though Omo is a household name among detergents, there are detergents that are better than it (Omo). All we will do is to restrategize and make our votes count during the election.”

He added that “don’t forget that we lost the election with Adamu Muazu in 2007 and 2011, we also lost with Isa Yuguda in 2015, maybe now that they are all out of the way of the PDP, the party will win the next election.”
