Funke Akindele debuts directorial role with ‘Your Excellency’

As some of her colleagues in the industry appear to be embracing the role of directors and fuelling the ranks of female movie producer and directors, popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, is set to make her debut as a director with Mo Abudu’s December flick, ‘Your Excellency.’

The movie, which will be released in December, according to findings, will also  parade top actors and actresses such as Lala Akindoju, Shaffy Bello, Kunle Coker, Eku Edewor, Alex Ekubo, among others, with Akindele playing the lead role and directing what was called her first feature film.

Spotted on set recently and showing what the other side of her that many people may not be familiar with, Akindele, who welcomed a set of twins with her husband, JJC last year, is said to be excited about her new role and has promised to give it her best shot.

Speaking on the choice of Akindele for the new project, EbonyLife TV owner and movie producer, Mo Abudu, expressed her happiness to be working on set with Akindele, whom she described as one of the super talented thespians in the industry.

According to her, the crew had been working round the clock to bring their fans another Christmas special blockbuster. “It is truly going to be fantastic.” The script, according to Abudu is “out of this world.”

‘Your Excellency’ tells a story of one Chief Olalekan Ajadi, a billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who is obsessed with US President, Donald Trump. Just when his campaign looks set to be another disaster, Ajadi is anointed by a major party and becomes a credible contender.

Other actors expected to be part of the movie include comedian Seyi Law, EmmaohMaGod, Oreka Godis, Osas Ighodalo and others.
