The United States of America has unveiled its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme, granting citizens from 40 countries the privilege of visa-free travel for tourism or business stays of up to 90 days in the USA.
This year’s program welcomes Romania as a new participant, while maintaining the majority of its previous members.
However, some countries, like the United Kingdom, remain outside the program’s scope, though they may qualify under specific conditions.
Notably, no African nations, including Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, are included in the 2025 list.
The US government, according to its Bureau of Consular Affairs website, emphasises that travelers under the VWP must obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval before their trip and fulfill all other necessary requirements.
They also clarify that individuals who prefer a traditional visa in their passport can still apply for one.

The 2025 Visa Waiver Programme reflects the US government’s focus on bolstering security measures and prioritizing countries with robust diplomatic ties and stringent border security standards.
This initiative aims to streamline travel to the United States, facilitating easier access for millions of people worldwide for business, tourism, and transit purposes.
