The Federal Government of Nigeria a few years ago, precisely in 2014, made a promise to build a high speed rail system that will revolutionarize the conveying of goods and passengers to major cities in Nigeria; including the South-West with special mention of the creation of Ibadan to Oyo to Ogbomoso and Ilorin link
The promise was given a quick expression with the release of the High Speed Rail Master Plan developed and circulated by the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC). The Master Plan had a comprehensive and international dimension to it. The Railway lines are to run from Lome in Republic Togo to Cotonou and Port Novo in the Republic of Benin through Lagos to Abeokuta to Ibadan with extension linking to Oyo to Ogbomoso and finally joining Ilorin and to other Northern Nigerian cities.
Fresh twist in Onnoghen’s trial, as star prosecution witness makes damning revelation
The laudable idea of the extension of railway services from Ibadan to Oyo to Ogbomoso and to Ilorin is to help develop first and foremost, the tourism potentials that the area possesses. As everyone is praising the Federal Government for the development of railway facilities, nothing has been said about the opening up of the Ibadan-Oyo-Ogbomoso to Ilorin axis which is in the Master Plan. The Traditional heads and people of these cities and all their surrounding towns and villages want the Federal Government to fulfill the promise made to them now for them to be beneficiaries of railway services to the glory of God and service to mankind.
