FRSC Corps Marshal warns officials against indiscipline

The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Corps Marshal, Dr Oyeyemi Boboye, has warned corps members not to be undisciplined as the management would frown at it.

Boboye gave the warning when he addressed the FRSC 2017 Commanding Officers’ Strategy Session in Enugu on Tuesday.

He said that the management had frowned at some officers who had gone on to violate the laid down disciplinary codes of the corps.

“The management is alarmed at the rate at which some personnel of the corps have gone to violate the laid down disciplinary codes by indulging in practices that undermine the positive image of the corps.

“Such acts of indiscipline include patrol misconduct, incivility to traffic offenders and, especially with the recent case of female staff wearing hair-style that extends beyond the permitted length.

“Let me re-assure you that for the benefit of doubt that the management will not condone any form of indiscipline from any staff and perpetrators of the acts will not go unpunished,’’ he said.

He noted that the session would give the corps room to critically review its performance and carry out a holistic review of the challenges after the first quarter of the year with a view to improving in the next.

The corps marshal assured the corps that the management remained committed to staff capacity building, adding that in spite of the funding challenges, the corps has remained on course.

“We have remained committed to partnerships with the state government in the area of establishment of Traffic Management Agencies.

“The FRSC management is ever ready to train the traffic management personnel for unified traffic management standards as the corps concentrates on highways in states that have established their traffic management agency,’’ Boboye said.

Contributing, the Enugu Zonal Commanding Officer, Mr Samuel Obayemi, said the session was a routine activity which helped the staff to improve on their duties to the nation and humanity.

He said that the session had a lot to discuss and mentioned indiscipline as one of problems the session would tackle.

The Nasarawa Sector Commander, Mrs Faustina Alegbe, said that the session would reposition the staff in a proper way and make them to know the focus of the orgnisation on road safety.

She promised that the outcome of the session would be put into practice in Nasarawa State to uphold the dignity of the corps.
