The Foursquare Gospel Church has announced plans for its 2025 International Conference for Ministers and Leaders (ICML), a major training programme aimed at equipping pastors, leaders, and workers with the necessary skills for effective ministry.
The announcement was made by the church’s General Overseer, Reverend Sam Aboyeji, during a press conference.
Addressing journalists, Aboyeji explained the church’s longstanding commitment to theological training and leadership development.
He said, “The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, by the grace of God, takes pride in the training mechanisms it has in place to equip pastors, leaders, workers, and members to become better Christians, competent ministry workforce, result-driven leaders and pastors with an understanding of how best to engage the harvest we have been commissioned to bring in, and positively influence our world for Christ.”
The upcoming ICML 2025, described as the church’s flagship training programme, is scheduled to take place from April 14 to April 18, 2025, at the Foursquare Campground, located at Kilometer 75, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near Ajebo, Ogun State.
The event is expected to attract over 8,000 attendees from Foursquare churches in Nigeria, West Africa, and Europe, as well as other Christian denominations.
Aboyeji emphasised the significance of this year’s conference theme, Faith for Great Exploits, drawn from Hebrews 11:2 and Daniel 11:32.
“Faith is the confident assurance that everything we hope for will be accomplished. It is the conviction that God is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek Him. Faith is the key to great exploits in our Christian life. By standing on the promises of God and stepping out in faith, we will achieve great exploits and bring honour to His name,” he explained.
According to him, those who would be joining him to minister at the event include Rev. Dr. Francis Sey, General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Ghana; Rev. Emiko Amotsuka, President of Koinonia Ministries, Ibadan; and Rev. Isaac Omolehin, Founder and President of The Word Commission International and The Word Assembly Churches, Ilorin.
In addition to the conference, Aboyeji announced that the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
“The Foursquare Gospel Church, known globally as the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, is an Evangelical and Pentecostal denomination founded in 1923 by renowned Canadian-American lady preacher and first female televangelist, Sister Aimee Semple McPherson in Los Angeles, California, USA.
“This year marks the 70th anniversary of the church in Nigeria. We are therefore excited to see that the transplant of the vine which took place in 1955 has blossomed, matured, and also transplanted into other countries of the world from Nigeria.”
He noted that a series of programmes and activities have been planned to commemorate the milestone, culminating in the 70th Annual National Convention at the Ajebo Camp in October 2025.
