The arrest of the suspects was contained in a statement signed and issued by the Command’s PPRO, SP Obed Mary Malum, stating that the suspects were traced following credible information and arrested by the Command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives in collaboration with local hunters based on intelligence reports.
The Command gave the names of the suspects as Babangida Abdullahi, 40 years and Suleiman Ibrahim, 37 years, both of Sabon Layi Awak in Kaltungo LGA; Ali Haruna of Tudun Kwaya in Billiri LGA and Isa Dabo of Daddare village in Balanga LGA, all in Gombe State.
Obed Mary Malum further stated that all the suspects have confessed to a series of kidnappings between Gombe and Borno states confirming that as soon as further investigation was completed they will be charged to court for prosecution.
According to the statement, two AK46 rifles, one locally made revolver pistol, a locally made rifle and 60 rounds of AK47 live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
The PPRO then appealed to residents of the State to join hands with the Police in fighting crimes by volunteering useful information that will lead to the arrest of suspicious people, stressing that fighting crimes is the business of everyone.
