THERE was commotion in some parts of Ilesa, Osun State on Thursday and Friday as suspected cultists engaged in violent clashes, leaving four people dead at the end of the gory encounters.
Saturday Tribune authoritatively gathered that the warring cultists clashed around Akinobi junction, Oke Opo, Akeusola Street and Isare Street, Ilesa.
Though, the cause of the hostilities was not known, the development caused apprehension in the affected areas as the hoodlums used dangerous weapons such as guns, machetes and axes to attack each other.
According to a credible security source, one of the corpses was found in the early hours of Thursday at Akinobi junction, Okeopo Street, Ilesa.
The source, who pleaded anonymity stated that “one lady simply identified as Iya Taye, aged 25 was macheted on the head and died on the spot at Akewusola Street, Ilesa.
He further hinted that, “one Basiru Adesola was also shot on the chest by suspected cultists and died at Isare Street, Ilesa while the corpse of another unidentified young boy was also found beside his residence on the same street on Friday.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro confirmed the incident, but said only three people died in the clashes.
She, however, explained that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas, adding that investigation was already ongoing over the cult clashes.
