Four die inside soak away pit in Imo

Four able-bodied men tragically died on Saturday in a soakaway pit at Umuoyala Egbu community, located in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to an eyewitness, the soakaway had been evacuated by workers the previous day.

However, the owner of the property, whose identity remains unknown at the time of this report, complained about blockages in the water flow.

In response to the owner’s complaints, one of the deceased workers, identified as Eke, entered the soakaway pit to clear the blockage but was unable to escape, despite efforts to rescue him.

Tragically, the second, third, and fourth men entered the pit in an attempt to save each other but also lost their lives inside.

The incident has caused widespread panic in the Umuoyala Egbu community, with residents baffled by the sudden and mysterious deaths of four men in such a short span of time.
