A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi over the alleged defamation suit against him.
The court’s decision was made with certain conditions to ensure the defendant’s availability for trial.
The defendant must provide two sureties, one of whom must be a house owner in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
He must also deposit his international passports with the court registry and is prohibited from travelling outside the country without the court’s permission.
In addition, he is required to provide a bond of 30 million naira.
Lastly, the Court refrained him from granting media interviews both electronic or print pending the determination of the substantive suit.
