A healthcare intervention programme was launched on Thursday for 10 communities in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State by a non-governmental organisation, Tropical Gate Foundation, Nigeria.
The programme was held in collaboration with Salvation Army Amesi in the same council area.
The medical outreach, according to Apostle Nnamdi Mbaigbo, the group’s founder is to offer special medical treatments at no cost to indigent people of the area suffering one ailment or the other.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the different ailing persons mostly elders from Amesi, Uga, Umunze, Isuaofia, Igbo-ukwu, Umuchu, Akpo, Ekwulobia, Nkpolo, and Akowa in Imo State were present to receive the free treatment and collection of drugs and eyeglasses, with doctors and nurses at their disposal.
Speaking, the chairman of the Foundation, a maritime consultant and clergy, Apostle Nnamdi Mbaigbo, said his inspiration for embarking on the medical outreach for the rural populace started in 2015 when he had a divine encounter.
“Tropical Gate Foundation for sustainable development by His Grace has come to stay. We will continue to position ourselves towards strategic United Nations development goals, namely No. 3 Good Health and well being and No. 4 Quality Education.
“We also hope to keep improving on the existing services. We are also open to partnerships and collaboration by governments, other NGO and spirited individuals. The harvest is ripe but the labourers are few.”
Also speaking, Program mobilizer, Mr Mbaigbo Victor Obumnaeme, said the programme is geared towards improving the medical and social lives of the people. “Our vision and mission to touch lives, and a way to exercise the message of our Lord Jesus Christ. A lot of people have already benefited from the programme through healing and we give thanks to the Almighty.”
Meanwhile, Madubuike Kenneth, from Umuchu community, who was diagnosed with cataract, one Mrs Offorkansi Ogochukwu, and 80-year-old Pa Chijioke Okoye from Amasi expressed gratitude to God for benefiting from the outreach.
