AL-IHSAN Charity Foundation, also known as Good People Charity Foundation, Ibadan, has graduated 150 students under the one-year complete Qur’an memorisation programme of the organisation.

The graduands at the combined fifth and sixth convocation ceremony of the foundation held at the Arabic Institute of Nigeria, Elekuro, Ibadan, included 122 males and 28 females, among whom were 17 orphans.

The Director General of the foundation, Sheikh Ahmad Olayiwola, advised the graduands to always exhibit virtues of Qur’an in their day-to-day activities.

“I urge our graduands, including the previous set, to cultivate the habit of constant revision and recitation of the glorious Qur’an to retain what they have memorised. They should desist from listening to music, refrain from unnecessary talks and they should try to train other people for the continuity of Islamic propagation,” he said.

Sheikh Olayiwola, while enumerating incentives given to the students to include monthly stipends for their upkeep, announced that the new academic session of the programme had begun.

He called on well-meaning Nigerians to venture into humanitarian services towards helping the needy and the underprivileged in the society.

Sheikh Olayiwola noted that the foundation, established for the purpose of reforming the society through sponsorship of western and Islamic educational pursuit of Muslim students, had succeeded in building 65 mosques and schools and helped 330 orphans in terms of feeding and provision of some basic needs.

Two representatives of the Good People Charity Foundation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdallah bun Ahmad-Alyahaya and Sheikh Abdul’Azeez bun Muhammad-Atuwaijiri, expressed satisfaction with the sound recitation of Qur’an by the students and rewarded them with cash gifts.

They reiterated the commitment of the foundation to spreading Islamic messages through welfare programmes for Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

In a remark, a senior lecturer at the Osun State University, Osogbo, Dr Murtado Abd’Salaam, affirmed that the glorious Qur’an contained the recipe for creating a better society and commended the foundation for its “unrelenting” efforts at engendering societal rebirth.

The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, prayed for increased Allah’s grace and beneficial religious knowledge for the graduands.

The lead tutor of the programme, Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Dada, who highlighted the various processes the graduands underwent to complete the Qur’an memorisation, charged parents and guardians to ensure their wards put into practice the knowledge they had acquired.
