Foundation donates food items to widows in Osun community

Leo Reassuring Hand Foundation (LRHF) has donated food items worth millions of naira to widows in Obokun community, Osun State.

The programme, tagged: Leo Vest Foodbank, saw over 500 widows,  including the vulnerable people benefiting from the initiative, as they were given food items such as tubers of yam,  spaghetti, oil,  bags of salt and others.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer  of Leo Vest Food Bank/  founder of the non governmental organisation (NGO),   Olatunji Awodiran, said the love for humanity and passion for widows prompted the initiative, so as to reduce the plight of the needy.

He urged the beneficiaries not to lose hope as the foundation is aimed at reducing hunger in various communities in the state.

“As a group, we implement a planned food distribution strategy to ensure that  about  500 households  and more receive nutritionally adequate food  items monthly

“We create a support system for widows that combine financial aid programmes, professional counselling services and community engagement events to enhance their  development

“We are contributing to community development by promoting unity, collaboration and mutual support among residents through various interventions.

“We also involve in training programmes to address skill gaps and promote personal as well as  professional growth among young participants,” he said.

On his part,  the Alademure of Ibokunland,  Oba Festus  Awogboro, said he was surprised with the  initiative organised by the people of the town and urged Nigerians to keep supporting the needy in the society.

The traditional ruler also stressed that the needy should not be neglected as they’re part of the society.

“I thank the foundation for supporting the underprivileged people in my community and  I’m really impressed . We’re  grateful in Ibokun

“The local government administrators need to know the people in need in their various domains. They need to change their ways of dealing with   underprivileged people in their areas

“Nigerians should emulate the initiative of the founder of the foundation ,’’ he said.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with journalists commended the foundation for the initiative.
