The need for effective empowerment of women and youths in Nigeria for growth and development has been advocated considering the rate of insecurity caused by idleness.
The assertion was made by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as the Royal Ambassadors Family Enlightenment Foundation (RAFEF) on Saturday during the official inauguration ceremony of the North-East Regional Executive Working Committee of the Foundation.
Director-General of the Foundation, Jonathan Okwudiri in his remarks said that this was necessary because women and youths are the backbone of any nation who, if economically empowered, would have a great impact on both the security and economic aspect of the nation.
“It is quite unfortunate and very alarming that the women and youth are mostly neglected in the workspace of Nigeria today.
“From our statistics, it is proven that women and youth of our nation are being used and dumped, and mostly not carried along for the positive impact on our society and governmental maximisation.
“This has made most of the women and youth lose their focus, talents, skills, potential and end up on the streets and become touts and hooligans and in the process lose their lives without fulfilment of their primary assignment on earth.”
He affirmed that the foundation has come to serve humanity as a sign of hope, new beginning, transforming wealth, power, importance, fairness, impartiality, and transmitting wisdom and authority to women and youths in the society.
The DG explained that “this is because the Foundation is a movement empowered with a mandate from God as a sign of the covenant between Him and the citizens of Nigeria to bring an end to hardship, poverty and unemployment among the women and youths.
“The principal activity of this noble organisation is to create business opportunities, job employment through digital training in ICT, entrepreneur and assisting government institutions, private and corporate organisations to reduce unemployment in Nigeria.
“This would be done by ensuring that unemployed youths and women are gainfully employed in the society, hence duly registered and incorporated in Nigeria with Corporate Affairs Commission.
Earlier, the Foundation’s Director, Media and Publicity, Hafsat Bappa said that the organisation was determined to make a positive impact on women and youth because they constituted a significant portion of the workforce, contributing to economic growth and development.
She said that investing in youth and women’s education, skills development and entrepreneurship fosters economic empowerment and ensures a prosperous future for the society.
According to her, “The youths and women are not just beneficiaries of societal progress but active agents driving it forward.
“Recognising and nurturing their potential is essential for creating a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable society. Let us empower the youths and women today to secure a brighter tomorrow for all as our anthem signifies.”
