Northern leaders have been urged to ensure that they fostered unity and peaceful coexistence among all the subregions without any form of discrimination and hatred.
The call was made by the Chairman of the Bauchi Transformation Agenda, Hon. Abdullahi Shuaibu while interacting with Journalists on Saturday.
He expressed dismay over the lack of support shown by Northerner leaders towards their kinsmen from the North-East geopolitical zone, stating that such attitudes hinder regional progress.

Abdullahi Shu’aibu was reacting to the recent wave of criticisms directed at the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, describing them as unwarranted and divisive.
According to him, “Anytime a citizen from the Northeast is appointed to a national role or federal position, some of his own kinsmen from the North are the first to undermine or reject his leadership.”
He emphasised that such attacks only serve to sow discord among people from the same region, regretting that Northerners often act as their own worst enemies politically, socially, and economically.
Referring to the criticism from Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed against Nuhu Ribadu, Abdullahi Shu’aibu argued that such public condemnations do not contribute to the unity and collective progress of the North.
He urged Northern leaders and influential figures, particularly those like Naja’atu Mohammed, to work towards strengthening regional solidarity rather than tearing each other down.
“The North must come together as a united and formidable force to pursue common goals for the benefit of all,” he stressed.
According to him, the region’s persistent issues such as backbiting, internal conflicts, and lack of cooperation have left it without a strong and authentic leadership.
“Whatever one may think of the NSA’s past actions, they are part of history. We should focus on progress rather than dwelling on past grievances,” he concluded.
