Former Niger Delta agitators, on Saturday, expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Federal Government for the overall development of the region.
The agitators, under the aegis, “Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme,” pledged at an enlarged meeting of stakeholders held in Benin.
The leader of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme and member, Special Committee, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Mr Tonye Bobo, sued for peace among the stakeholders.
He noted that it was a new dawn in Niger and that the people had decided to embrace peace for the socio-economic development of the region.

“We are already getting it right. As peace Ambassadors, we have to change the narrative in the Niger Delta. We want the public to know that Niger Delta is a region where people can do business without any molestation,” he stated.
Bobo disclosed that all the necessary measures had been put in place by the group to stop incessant protest and blocking of high ways to press for their demands.
He added that there was ongoing talk with the Interim Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dikio, whom he described as an upright mam and one with interest of the people at heart, to ensure lasting peace in the area.
He emphasised the need to support him in order to achieve the set objectives for the people.
“Today’s meeting is very powerful, looking at the calibre of persons present. Some of the stakeholders that could not make it to the meeting sent a word of support and appreciation for the effort we are putting in place for the needful to be done in the office,” he said.
The spokesman of the group, Mr Godstime Ogidigba, said part of their resolution was to confirm the Exco led by Tonye Bobo for two years, and thereafter, election would be conducted.
He also said that the position of Chairman is rotational and also resolved to give peace a chance to allow their demands to be met.
