Former FCT minister berates Bauchi Governor, says he has under-performed

Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar

Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) have been berated for alleged lack of performance since elected into office in 2015.

Abubakar’s administration was condemned by a former Minister of the FCT, Bala Muhammed Abubakar Duguri, during the inauguration of the Elders Consultative Forum of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state, Sunday saying that the APC-led administration was not doing enough for the wellbeing of the people of the state.

Bala Muhammed who is aspiring for the Bauchi state governorship seat under the opposition PDP in 2019 advised the party to correct the anomalies in the state by giving equal opportunity to all its members wishing to contest any position in the build up to 2019 elections.

He said that unjust treatment to deserving aspirants in previous elections was responsible for the catastrophic failure of the party in 2015, arguing that the trend could be reversed when credible and qualified people were allowed to contest elective positions in the party.

Another governorship aspirant of the party, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, called on the party leadership to look inward towards providing a lasting solution to the challenges militating against the development of the state.

Abdul Ningi promised to support any aspirant who eventually emerges as the candidate of the party’s primary election for its success.

In his remarks, the Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam, said the Elders’ Committee was inaugurated to guide the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The party Chairman called on the party’s contestants not to allow supporters to cause disunity among them ahead of the forthcoming elections but rather have the interest of the party at heart.
