Following my reelection, I will not disappoint my people, says Olajide

The member representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency in the

Federal House of Representatives, Honorable Adedeji Stanley Olajide, has promised

not to disappoint his people in the second mandate they give him.

Olajide, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won a return ticket to the House in the February 25 election with 23,964 votes against Honorable Saheed

Akinade-Fijabi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had 23,019.

He said he’s ready to represent his people more than before now they had given him a return ticket.

He said he would not take the mandate for granted but see it as an opportunity to

serve his people more better than before, noting that the best is yet to come for Nigeria.

Odidi Omo as he is fondly called, stated that the next president of the country must

work closely with the National Assembly, saying “We don’t want a military mentally that

we are witnessing in the country today; we want a process so that the rule of law can

be respected.”

He said: “I thank God for this victory; it is not a victory borne out of how much cash we spent, or how much influence we have on people, but it is purely the grace of God, so we really want to give the glory to God for crowning the effort that we have put in place to do the best for our people to give us this second mandate.

“When you look out at the turn out that led to this victory, voters turn out was not encouraging; our people did not come out as we expected but we understand that a lot of people are dealing with poverty, they cannot even feed themselves talk less of transporting themselves to their polling unit, so voters turn out was an issue, but in all, it was free and fair election as everybody came out to express themselves without the fear being attacked.

“As a country, we are maturing politically, our democratic process is maturing, this last election on Saturday, I can tell you without reservation that I did not trade with 1 kobo with anybody to vote for us, everybody voted for their conscience; they voted who they want to be their leader and I thank God for this opportunity and I promise my constituency, I will serve them to the fullest.”
