FMC Owerri set to carry out mass burial of abandoned corpses

The Federal Medical Centre  (FMC), Owerri, has declared her readiness to carry out the mass burial of abandoned corpses in its mortuary.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Achonu Jecinta and made available to journalists in Owerri, capital of Imo State.

The release urged the general public especially those missing their relatives to visit the hospital mortuary for possible identification and collection of such corpses within 14 days from the announcement.

The PRO further explained that the mass burial exercise is usually done yearly to awaken the subconsciousness of some families who might have forgotten their relatives in the mortuary.

She said that some family members might have forgotten their relatives in the mortuary and decided to focus their attention on some other pressing issues.

The release further advised family members whose relatives are missing to visit the hospital to identify and collect their corpses.
