Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payment technology company, has been honoured as the “Company of the Year” at the prestigious Innovation in Payments and Remittances (IPR) 2024 Awards held in London. This accolade highlights Flutterwave’s commitment to excellence and innovation in facilitating seamless cross-border payments for individuals and businesses alike.

The IPR Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of the most innovative players in the global money transfer sector, including Money Transfer Operators, Banks, Fintechs, and Telcos. Since 2018, the awards have aimed to foster collaboration among payments and remittance professionals, promote best practices, and drive positive change within the industry.

In recognising Flutterwave, the IPR underscored the company’s dedication to serving enterprise businesses through its Flutterwave for Business suite and retail customers via the Send App by Flutterwave, an innovative cross-border remittance solution. This honour reflects Flutterwave’s forward-thinking innovations, which have enabled individuals and businesses across Africa to access simplified remittance services, thus facilitating seamless cross-border transactions for millions of Africans in the diaspora.

Yewande Akomolafe-Kalu, Interim Head of Marketing at Flutterwave, expressed excitement over the recognition, stating, “We’re thrilled to be named IPR’s ‘Company of the Year.’ This award is especially significant to us as it acknowledges our innovations in the payment ecosystem and their transformative impact on cross-border transactions. Our focus remains on connecting Africa to the world and the world to Africa through seamless payment solutions, reinforcing our leadership as an ecosystem enabler and innovation trendsetter.”

In addition to this latest accolade, Flutterwave was also named Fast Company’s Most Innovative Company for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in 2024. Recently, the company appointed Mitesh Popat as its new Chief Financial Officer, a strategic move aimed at driving the next phase of growth and creating sustainable value for customers and the broader payment ecosystem in Africa.
