The two victims, a boy and girl, aged seven, who are said to be schoolmates were swept away by the flood which lasted for about one hour in the Akure metropolis.
According to a source, the incident which occurred at Oke- Aro area of the State happened separately in the area simultaneously.
One of the victims, Bamidele was said to have left his parents house to visit a friend before the rain started but fell into the river while returning home and was swept away.
Marvellous was also said to have left her parents house to empty refuse into the stream but fell in the process and was swept away.
The mother of the young girl was said to have collapsed on hearing about the death of her daughter and was rushed to the hospital said she never asked her to dispose the refuse in the stream.

A source said the corpse of Marvellous was later recovered by officials of the State Fire Brigade.
Contacted the state police, Femi Joseph confirmed the ugly incident and said that victims who were schoolmates were swept away by the flood.
He appealed to parents and guardians to always ensure that their children and wards are kept indoors during the rain to avoid such casualties.
