THE chairman, Ministerial Security sub committee on the movement of Abuja International Airport Operations to Kaduna, Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG (operations), Alkali Baba Usman, has said 24 hours security surveillance will be mounted around Kaduna airport and environs for protection of live and property.
AIG Usman, who declared the Kaduna and its Airport safe to receive flights diversion from Abuja,said the repair and fixing of equipment was 95 per cent complet.
Speaking in Kaduna, he explained that in Kaduna on inspection to access the security situation around the state and the airport declaring that everything was in order.
Usman, added that the security arrangement is 90 per cent okay: “We are ministerial sub committee on the airport diversion project, our mandate is to ensure that there is security on the roads and at the airport and the terminal”
According to him:” so far so good from what we have seen right from Abuja to Kaduna. All aspects of preparation in terms of security are 90 per cent okay.”
“Our level level of deployment on the roads has been accessed and we have marked where we will cover in terms of patrol going and coming to Abuja
“We have also made arrangements to also protect the airport and equipment, building and everywhere, and before proper take off, everything must be on ground”
Usman, said they were satisfied with the arrangements so far, adding that everything would be completed before the actual date of take off.
“We have also ensured that all hotels and places of interest are protected and guided and we are going to increase patrol visibility,” the AIG said.
Usman also assured passengers that all hands were on deck to sustain the peace in the state.
On her part, Kaduna Airport Manager, Mrs Amina Salami, said so far, the upgrade was almost 95 per cent complet.
“You must have seen that the terminal is big and can take all the international flights that may be coming and also for the domestic airlines, were advantage with the Hajj terminal which is already on ground,” she said.
The airport Manager, explained that in the event part of the new terminal building is not ready: “we will also use part of the Hajj terminal which is to our own advantage”
Salami, added that arrangements have been put in place for adequate security in and around the airport vicinity.
