Ogbe-Ijoh Market during the last fire incidence
With seven days to Christmas, popular Ogbe-Ijoh Iron Market in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, is currently on fire again.
The raging fire started at about 5:00 pm on Tuesday.
Traders at the market and commuters plying the Warri-Sapele road were seen scampering for safety.
Most of the traders, in whose presence the fire began, were seen attempting to salvage one or two items as the fire bellows huge fire and smoke that were visible kilometres away from the site.
Traders, who have visibly destabilised, were seen lamenting their losses.
As the traders scampered to salvage some of their wares, firefighters from the State Fire Service, who allegedly arrived late to the scene, were seen battling with the huge inferno.
Tribuneonline reports that fire at Ogbe-Ijoh Iron Market, built by the former Governor James Ibori administration and yet to be inaugurated, has become an annual ritual that usually occurs during Yuletide of the new year.
