Fire guts NAFDAC’s apex office in Abuja

HEADQUARTERS of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration Control  (NAFDAC), on Friday morning, was gutted with fire.

The fire was said to have started in the early hours of Friday but the cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained.

As at the time of filing this report, the agency’s headquarters located at Wuse Zone 7 has been condoned off with few officials loitering within the vicinity.

A source, who spoke with Nigerian Tribune on the development said details of the incident would be made known after the Christmas celebrations.

He stated that no one seems to know the major cause of the fire outbreak but suspected that this could be as a result of a power surge.

The source, however, stated that the fire service officials were able to put out the fire but had arrived the scene late.

Another source at the agency stated that investigations would be conducted to ascertain the cause of the incident and would be made public by 27th, December 2017.

The development is coming barely three weeks after the assumption of the new Director General (DG) Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, to office.
