Fire guts engineering firm in Delta

Fire engulfed the premises of Fenog Nigeria Ltd, an engineering company located in Effurun, near Warri, Delta State, on Monday, destroying property worth millions of naira.

The company is located opposite Bright Hope Junction, Airport Road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

Reports say the fire broke out at about 9:00a.m as residents including bank workers in nearby buildings scampered to safety.

The fire, it was gathered, broke out from the yard of the engineering, procurement and construction company.

The staff of a nearby micro-finance bank reportedly hurried to evacuate their handy property as the fire was partly aided by harmattan in the city.

Sources said oil and gas equipment worth millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno which source has not been ascertained yet.

Firefighters from the state Fire Service were said to have a hectic time in putting out the inferno. As of the time the fire was eventually put out, equipment including two tankers worth millions of naira had been destroyed.

Managing Director of the firm, Matthew Tonlagha, and some of his workers prevented journalists from accessing the premises just as they declined to comment on the incident.
