“Thank you, Tunde. I’ll call you back later,” Emeka managed to utter before ending the call. He couldn’t focus on anything for the rest of the day. He felt paralyzed, unsure whether to reach out to Adetutu or send her the link to the news flash.
He sat there motionless, lost in his thoughts, contemplating what this revelation meant for their relationship.
Emeka’s mind was in turmoil. He couldn’t comprehend why Adetutu had kept such a significant event and achievement a secret from him. The news flash about her success at the art exhibition had left him feeling lost and helpless.
Days turned into weeks, and Emeka wrestled with his emotions. Should he confront Adetutu about her secret trip to the art gallery, or should he wait for her to explain? The uncertainty gnawed at him, fueling his frustration.
Finally, unable to bear the weight of his curiosity any longer, Emeka decided to call Adetutu. As the phone rang, he nervously fidgeted with his fingers, unsure of what to say when she answered.
“Hello?” Adetutu’s voice came through the line, filled with warmth and concern.
“Adetutu, it’s me, Emeka,” he managed to say, his voice laced with a mixture of hurt and curiosity.
“Emeka! Oh, I’ve missed you. How’s everything at home?” Adetutu’s voice exuded genuine affection, unaware of the storm brewing within Emeka.
“Everything is…fine,” Emeka hesitated. “But I came across a news flash about an art exhibition in Lagos. Adetutu, were you a part of that?”
Silence hung in the air for a few moments. Emeka held his breath, waiting for her response.
Finally, Adetutu spoke softly, her voice filled with remorse. “Emeka, I…I didn’t tell you because I thought it would be better this way. I didn’t want to burden you with my dreams and aspirations. Please understand.”
Emeka’s heart ached at her words. He realized that their financial struggles had inadvertently created a barrier between them, making Adetutu feel the need to keep her achievements hidden.
“Adetutu, I never wanted you to bear the weight alone. We are a team, remember?” Emeka’s voice softened. “Your dreams are my dreams too, and I want to support you in every way I can.”
Adetutu let out a sigh of relief. “I’m sorry, Emeka. I should have trusted you more and shared my journey with you. It won’t happen again.”
Emeka’s voice filled with determination. “No more secrets, Adetutu. Let’s be open and honest with each other, no matter what. We’ll face our financial challenges together, and I’ll support you in pursuing your passion.”
Adetutu’s voice quivered with gratitude. “Thank you, Emeka. Your understanding means the world to me.”
From that moment on, Emeka and Adetutu embarked on a new chapter in their relationship. They communicated openly, sharing their dreams, aspirations, and financial concerns and financial goals without fear of judgment or burdening the other.
Emeka became Adetutu’s biggest cheerleader, attending her art exhibitions, promoting her work on social media, and supporting her artistic endeavors wholeheartedly. They began to view their financial struggles as challenges they could overcome together, rather than obstacles that would drive them apart.
Over time, Adetutu’s art gained further recognition, and Emeka’s unwavering support bolstered her confidence. They learned to celebrate each other’s successes and found joy in seeing their dreams intertwine.
The financial games that had once plagued their relationship were replaced by trust, understanding, and a shared vision for their future.
