Fighting corruption: I remain consistent, steadfast ― Buhari

Published by

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has said that he would remain consistent and steadfast in his policy to improve the well-being of the people of the country.

President Buhari stated this yesterday in Makurdi during his campaign rally.

He explained that at the time he came to the state in 2015 to the campaign, he promised to tackle three key areas which include; economy, security and fight against corruption.

The president said that the most difficult of his policy was fighting corruption.

Buhari said, ‘for those that were found guilty, they’re being taken before the courts

“What they have accumulated in terms of infrastructure, we will take it; sell it and put the money in the treasury.

“We will (use it) do the roads; we will do the railways, we will bring power (electricity) from the money we have recovered from the looters.

“I assure you, I am not going to change. I am going to be consistent. I will remain steadfast,” he said.

Earlier speaking,  the leader of APC in Benue state, Senator George Akume accused the opposition  PDP of looting the treasury but said that the president had taken a bold step to rescue Nigeria from the hands of corrupt leaders.

“Money meant for fighting Boko  Haram was shared mercilessly by these corrupt leaders.

“Today, many of these people are running away from the money kept in the banks. Buhari does not love money, he was a governor in two states, a former head of state and a minister of petroleum resources, yet he had no oil well.

The former Senate minority leader said that Benue people had no problem with Fulani herdsmen noting that in his eight years as governor, farmers and herdsmen had no problem.

“We have no problem with Fulani people and therefore, nobody should hide his incompetent,  senselessness and underperformance to lament.

Akume said that Benue people are fully prepared for the forthcoming general elections and appealed to PMB to deploy more security to the state to conduct the elections.

The national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole accused governor Samuel Ortom of squandering money meant for payment of salary in the state.
