Fight against terrorism: NCC donates ICT equipment to Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has donated some Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies, Makurdi, to assist them (Nigerian Army) in actualising their mandate of safeguarding the nation’s territorial borders.

The equipment which includes 10 laptops, 1 coloured LaserJet Printer, 2 black and white LaserJet Printers and 1 Projector, was handed over to the Army Institute at the NCC headquarters, Abuja.

Presenting the equipment, the Head Information Technology of NCC, Engr Abraham Oshadami who represented the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, said the Commission expects that the equipment would go along way in complementing the Nigerian Army mandate of enhancing the security of the country.

“It started sometime in October last year when your institute wrote the commission requesting for partnership and sponsorship and soliciting for the intervention of the Commission to provide ICT facilities for the use of your Institute.

“I am particularly delighted to inform you that the Commission promptly responded to your request by making a donation of 10 laptops, 1 coloured LaserJet Printer, 2 black and white LaserJet Printers and 1 Projector, to your Institute.

“The Commission no doubt expects that this gesture will go a long way to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Army towards achieving its mandate and to further enhance the security of the country”, Engr Oshadami said.

Furthermore, Engr Oshadami said “it is our hope that this donation will make difference on the staff and students of the Institute not only by improving their access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools but to enhance their skills in computing, as well as understanding and developing appreciation of ICT for improved efficiency in teaching and learning in various subjects”.

Receiving the equipment, the representative of the Institute, Nwafor Chidimma thanked the Commission for the gesture, she also called on the Commission to continue to responding promptly whenever the Institute calls on them.
